The Hawaiian Airlines® Visa® Classic, issued by Bank of America, N.A. (USA), is designed for those with an average or a limited credit history who travel frequently via Hawaiian Airlines®.
Through the airline reward program, two miles are earned for every dollar spent through Hawaiian Airlines® and one mile is earned for every dollar spent on all other purchases. Miles can be redeemed towards free travel on Hawaiian Airlines®. Cardholders receive 5,000 bonus miles with the first purchase and payment. There is a limit of 50,000 miles that can be earned per year and points do expire if the account is not active within a three-year period.
Aside from the reward program, cardholders can expect common benefits offered by Bank of America, N.A. (USA), such as up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance, total security protection, and zero liability on Internet purchases.
The interest rate for purchases and balance transfers is reasonable for a reward card (for those who qualify), although not ideal for those who plan to carry a balance. There is a low introductory rate that applies to purchases and balance transfers for six months and the annual fee is rather low for an airline reward card.
Therefore, those who plan to pay in full each month (to avoid finance charges) and will use the card frequently for Hawaiian Airlines® ticket purchases (to earn additional points) will benefit most from what the Hawaiian Airlines® Visa® Classic has to offer.
Those with very good credit may want to consider the platinum credit card, which offers additional benefits but with a higher annual fee.
