The US Airways® Visa® Classic, issued by Bank of America, N.A. (USA), is designed for those who travel frequently via US Airways.
Through the airline reward program, cardholders earn one mile for every dollar spent on the card, which can be redeemed towards free travel on US Airways. After the first purchase is made, an extra 5,000 bonus miles will be applied to the account. In addition, up to eleven miles per dollar spent can be earned at select restaurants in the United States. Cardholders can earn up to 50,000 miles per year.
The interest rate for purchases and balance transfers is above average for a reward card and not ideal for those who plan to carry a balance. However, there is a low introductory rate that applies to purchases and balance transfers for the first six billing cycles, and the annual fee is about average for an airline reward card.
In addition to the reward program, cardholders can expect common benefits offered by Bank of America, N.A. (USA), such as up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance, and online account access.
Therefore, those who frequently fly with US Airways, plan to pay in full each month (to avoid finance charges), and will be able to redeem a free ticket within a two-year period (due to the annual fee of $50) will benefit most from what the US Airways® Visa® Classic has to offer.
Those with very good credit may want to consider the platinum credit card, which offers additional benefits but with a higher annual fee.
Most Attractive Feature(s) : Bonus miles; annual ticket discount; low introductory rate.
Least Attractive Feature(s) : No extraordinary benefits or services; slightly high annual fee; APR based on the highest Prime Rate during a three month period.
